Stock Investments: Build Your Investing Knowledge For Capital Growth
Stock investments are a great way to invest money to capture capital growth or dividend income. Stock purchasers can be made online or through a licensed stock broker. With the plethora of good stock investment information available online, stock investors now have an abundance of information freely available at their finger tips to make investment decisions. Whether you're a pure fundamental trader or technical investor the modern advancements in software, data and the ability to do research online makes investment in the stock market easier than ever before. Prior to making a stock purchase it is advisable to understand what your objectives for the purchase are. There are many different investment styles. These include: long term investing, short term investing and investments in stocks for dividends. Your objectives will determine the types of stocks you buy. Additional information about the styles of investing is discussed further below.
Long Term Investing: Investments in the stock market for the long term usually involve parking money with the expectation that the stock price will rise in the years to come. This type of investing usually has a minimum time frame of three to five years. Investors who are comfortable with this style are generally unconcerned about the day to day fluctuations in the price of the stock. The understanding is that over time, companies that have a solid business approach and are well run will appreciate in price. Investors who research stocks for the long term hope to make good stock investments that outperform the market over the calculated timeframe for holding the stock. Short Term Investing: The line of division for short term investing is often a little blurred. A distinction between trading and investing should be made at this point. Trading usually has more precise buy and sell rules associated with the purchase of the stock. This style of stock purchase can involve holding the stock for seconds or a period of some months. Short term investing, however, usually entails parking the capital for a period of time. Six months would be a reasonable time frame for this. Short term investors may not necessarily have defined exit rules. Investing For Dividends: Investing in a stock is considered one of the best stock investments for producing consistent income. Stocks that have historically paid high yields offer the chance to capture a regular return on the investment that exceeds bank interest rates. Gains are also available for capital growth, which when combined with the dividend income, constitutes an additional opportunity for return. Education is important for making stock investments. It is prudent to learn more about how you intend to invest as opposed to just buying on the latest tip. Books, seminars, websites and making a dedicated effort to learn more about stock market share information is recommended for individuals who want to make better stock investments. You will also need to learn about the options for purchasing shares. You can use a full service broker or learn more about online investing and the stock market if you want full control over your decision making. |
